SAB Kickstart BOOST Finalists 2017

In June 2016, 25 candidates from a broad range of industries including health and wellness, marketing, agriculture, cleaning and manufacturing, started the SAB Kickstart Boost journey.

The programme targets youth-owned businesses and gives them the expansion opportunities and support they need to grow and create high volumes of jobs. It does so by giving young entrepreneurs business assistance and support during an 18-month long programme.

On May 30, we made the announcement that took our group of 25, down to our top 10 entrepreneurs.

They currently employ 48 staff between them, with 26 part-time workers, and are projected to grow this to more than 100, with 20 part-time workers. Up to R3.1-million in business support and funding has already been awarded to our finalists.

So who are these top 10 and what do they do?

is the owner of The Venclean Group, a one-stop cleaning solutions business that targets primarily households and small businesses. It is based in Cala.

is the owner of Lemena TN Solutions (Pty), a sewing business that specialises in high quality and affordable school uniforms, tailor made for the schools in the area, as well as fabric printing and embroidery. It is based in Welkom.

is the owner of Botshelo Wellness and Fitness Club, that offers health and beauty services with a fully equipped gymnasium, day spa, nail bar and nutrition corner. The products used are organic and especially suited for African skin. It is based in Thaba Nchu.

is the owner of B-MA Services, that services and repairs BMWs and Mini Coopers which are no longer covered under a motor plan. It is based in Pretoria North.

is the owner of Shangilia Boutique Spa, a beauty and wellness spa that offers a range of beauty signature treatments and specialises in home fragrances – the retail product is unique to the business and can only be purchased through the boutique spa. It is based at Carousel Casino in Hammanskraal.

owner of MB.co Podiatrist (Pty) Ltd, provides podiatric services through the design and manufacture of safety footwear that addresses foot problems. It is based in Protea Glen, Soweto.

owner of The Recess Youth Movement (TRYM), a health and wellness business that targets grade 8 to 12 scholars. It is based in Mzimhlophe, Soweto.

is the owner of Mind Switch, a creative consultancy that focuses on providing brands and companies with ‘out of the box’ thinking marketing solutions with special emphasis on campaign development and brand activations. It is based in Westville, Durban.

is the owner of The She Creative House CC, a farm that produces high quality fruit and vegetables as well as sugar cane. In addition, Zama also markets and packages her produce under her Soil Sista brand in accordance to consumer specifications. It is based at the Glentworth Farm, Baynesfield.

is the owner of Renabo Plastic Moulders and Furniture (Pty) Ltd, a business that specialises in the manufacturing and refurbishment of school furniture. It is based in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.

In November, our top 10 will become the triumphant trio. The first-place winner will receive a R500 000 grant for further investment into their business, while second and third place will receive R400 000 and R300 000. In addition to the financial investment received in prizes, the top three winners will also benefit from an additional six-month business training and mentorship.
