Brauhaus am Damm

Brauhaus am DammAll our beer are strictly brewed according to the Bavarian “Reinheitsgebot” of 1516, the oldest governing foodstuffs in the world that is still in use. This law states that only water, barley, malt and hops may be used to produce beer. Yeast had not been discovered yet.

The finest ingredients are imported from Germany and are used in the brewing process in the cooper brew house, which is perfectly situated in the main dining area. After 4 weeks- used for fermenting and maturing- our traditional lager type beers are available on tap in their freshest form: directly from the cellar. In order to retain all the goodness, our beers are not filtered or pasteurised.

Brauhaus Pils

The rich amber coloured beer is brewed with the secret blend of 3 different types of the finest barley malt. It has a sparkling and refreshing taste with a hint of apricot and honey flavour. As it is without too much bitterness, we recommend it as an aperitif and to accompany the main course.

Farmers Draught

Farmers’ Draught is a blond-coloured beer, similar to the “ Munchener Helles” of the Bavarian beer halls. It has a lighter taste with a crisp pleasantly dry, yet soft finish. A real “drinking beer”.

Brauhaus Dunkel

Our dark, full flavoured beer with its cream coloured head will surprise you with a harmony of coffee, caramel and roast malt flavours, while the pleasant bitterness lingers on. A perfect match for main courses and desserts.

Seasonal delights

This variable beer option will be crafted from time to time for a limited duration only. The brewer experiments with new flavours and beer styles to provide you with something “different” throughout the year.

Brewering Tours and Beer Tasting

The beer tour of our private brewery operation, including the cellar, will open your mind to various differentiating factors of craft beer. The tour includes a professional guide and a tasting of different beer types, accompanied with a full description of each beer. Group sizes are restricted to 25 people and booking is essential.

The tour includes tasting of 4 different beers and a full size 500ml beer at the end of the tour. Tours take place every Saturday at 11am, last plus minus 1 hour and costs R50 per person. For groups of 10 or more, any suitable time can be arranged.
